FAQS
How does car transportation work?
We transport your vehicle with a licensed and insured auto transporter. Once we confirm your driving plan, your vehicle pick up and delivery will be scheduled. You will get 8 to 24 hours advance notice from us to again confirm our agreement and to make arrangements for the pick up details.
How early should I schedule the shipping of the vehicle?
We would like to have as much notice as possible of your preferred vehicle transport dates. This will help us with your plan as well as schedule your vehicle pickup and delivery within the time frame which you requested. We will gladly work with shorter timeframes; however, we focus our efforts to accommodate the long term efforts and preplanning of all our customers. The more notice, the better planning is available.
What is door to door auto transport service?
All of the pricing provided by A La Car Specialized Transport begins with the door-to-door vehicle transportation as a basis of initial planning. Door-to-door vehicle transportation service does not always mean a transporter will be able to pull up to your front door. Some locations might require additional planning. Door-to-door means that your driver will get as close to your specified pick-up or delivery spot as legally and safely possible. Large towns and cities often restrict large trucks and prohibit them from entering into some residential areas. Transporters can be up to 75 feet long and drivers will need lots of room to maneuver and turn around. When access to your residence is restricted by narrow streets, low-hanging trees, speed bumps or tight turns, our driver may ask that you meet the truck at a large parking lot nearby, such as a grocery store, school, or shopping mall.
What kind of truck will my vehicle be shipped on?
Your vehicle(s) will be transported in an enclosed, highly secure and specialized vehicle hauler.
How does the insurance work?
During the pickup and drop-off of the vehicle, we will complete a detailed physical inspection of the vehicle on a condition report, which you or your agent must sign and acknowledge. This same condition report will be presented again upon delivery, so that you or your agent can re-inspect the vehicle for any discrepancies.
In the highly unlikely event any damage did occur during the vehicle transportation, please be sure to note it on the condition report at the time of delivery and have your driver sign in agreement immediately. No claims will be honored if the damage is not noted at the time of delivery and acknowledged by your driver.
What forms of payment are acceptable?
To secure the date we will accept an administration deposit of 25%. Another 25% is due on or prior to the date of departure. The balance is due upon return of your vehicle after inspection and acknowledgement of the condition report. We accept cashier's checks, money orders, cash and
personal checks. (subject to bank verification) Soon we will honor most major credit cards (Visa, Master Card and American Express) for the administration fee.
What about terminals?
Typically we don't use shipping & delivery terminals. Shipping terminals are usually in the worst parts of town where land is cheapest. Security is usually not very good. Auto shipping trucks are maneuvering in and out all day and the possibility of damage being incurred is very real.
We will use one truck going all the way to your destination. We will not, under any circumstances, use or allow "truck switching" enroute, which will dramatically delay the delivery, affect the security of your vehicle and substantially increase the probability of vehicle damage.
What is the difference between open and enclosed carriers?
Open trailers are either partially or fully exposed to the elements. There are many different types of auto hauling, open car carrier trailers, ranging from small three car carriers to the large 11 car carriers that you often see on the Interstate. Enclosed trailers are protected from the elements, and your prized vehicle is shipped in a highly secure, mobile garage.
